Hi, my name is Bruce. I have been in recovery for 13 years. I began using alcohol in my early thirties after burying my wife and my mother to cancer. Alcohol opened me up to other drugs and I was forced to enter residental treatment where the mircle of recovery began. I was 24, on the floor board of a truck and staring out the window at a crackhead who was offering me favors for $20. That is when I first realized I was in an awful mess. I was a drunk. I felt like I was in a dark deep hole with no up or down, no ending or beginning. I felt just despair with sickness and pain all around. My drinking had stopped being fun long before and it was now taking less amounts of alcohol to make me sick all night and into the next afternoon.
