I am funny.

WHAT HAS RECOVERY DONE FOR ME?

Have you ever had a hangover? I used to suffer, nearly daily, from headaches, dry mouth, light headedness, and an overall feeling of... yech! I remember thinking that I just couldn't wait for the day to be over... but when I finally made it through that day, and actually felt better, it was off to the bar again!

Drink, rinse, repeat. You see, I am an alcoholic, and for better or for worse (and usually it was for worse), I was destined to continue this insidious cycle. Finally, after days upon days of being sick and tired of being sick and tired, I admitted that I was powerless over alcohol and other drugs, and I, finally, asked for help. And I got help, and I have not had a drink or a drug since August 24, 1992.

Today, I don't wake up with a hangover!
Today, I live life on life's terms.
Today, I take responsibility for my actions.
Today, I tell the truth.
Today, when I make a mistake, and someone else is affected adversely as a result, I endeavor to make amends to that person who was harmed.
Today, I live life... one day at a time.
Today, I try to help others who suffer from this disease, and that action helps me to stay clean and sober.
Today, I am grateful for this day that I have been given to live.
Today, I am clean and sober.

Today. THIS IS WHAT RECOVERY HAS DONE FOR ME!
